The Guard and Drum Line did well last weekend at the AIA Finals competition with the Guard placing 5th and the Drum Line 7th.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Hospitality

Martha Phillips reported on the survey that was given to the students regarding the format of the end-of-year banquet. The decision was made to host a buffet style banquet like last year. She requested $750 for banquet expenses, which was approved by the board. It was decided to charge $14.00 per person, excluding seniors, which are covered by the Boosters.

Photography

Susan Taylor asked about the status of the composite picture and Chris Klein agreed to follow up with David Caldwell at Lifetouch.

Carol Butterworth asked the chaperones to give her any pictures from the Spring Trip.

Tribute Book

Bev Meyers reported that she could use some help from anyone familiar with Publisher 2000 or 2003. Sherry Galloway noted that senior ads are still available.

Web Page

Susan Taylor announced that Mark Bartholomew has agreed to be our new Webmaster for the remainder of the year.

Scholarships

There is currently $192 in the scholarship account. Roby Monday will call Wal-Mart to check on the status of their donation to the scholarship fund. The Boosters would like to offer two scholarships this year, but will hold off until the May meeting to make a final decision as to the number of scholarships and their amounts. Seniors will be given a handout with instructions for submitting their essay for consideration by the April 28th deadline. Roby Monday, Chris Klein, Debra Bradshaw, and Carol and Chris Butterworth have agreed to sit on the Selection Committee. Roby will make the final selection(s).

Ways and Means

Dan Watkins announced that the Boosters received $125.78 from Ukrops' (Benevo-Link Program). The next Chick-fil-A night is May 12th. Bruster Ice Cream coupon books are still available. Summer car washes have been scheduled for 7/8, 7/22, and 8/5 at Wal-Mart from 10 - 2.

Godwin has earned the Blue Ribbon School Award from the Virginia Music Educators Association for achieving "Superior" (the highest) ratings at district festival by the top band (wind ensemble), chorus, and orchestra.

The band, orchestra, and chorus will perform Alexander Nevsky by Serge Prokoflev on May 25th. There will be two performances that evening (times to be announced) and there will be a charge to help cover the cost of renting the music.
