Godwin Band Boosters Minutes

General Membership Minutes 8/31/06

Call To Order

The meeting of the Godwin Band Boosters General Membership was called to order by President, Roby Monday at 6:05PM following the picnic in the Commons.

General Announcements

Roby welcomed all new parents and students.

Roby reminded the membership of the signup forms on the tables in the entrance including committees and chaperones needed for games and field shows. Of especial importance is the Godwin Field Show Nov 4. This show hosts 10-15 bands and is an all day affair. It is a large fund raiser. Roby reminded parents that participation is critical for the success of this major event and encouraged sign up.

Missed fee day - Roby instructed those who missed Fee Day to pick up an envelope so these payments can be made. See Mr Auman for band fees that go to Godwin.

Medical Release forms - these are required. They were made available tonight. These forms must be notarized.

Booster meetings are held on the First Monday of each month. However, there is a change for September due to Labor day and back-to-School Night. The September General Band Booster Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sep 12 at 7:30 PM.

Storage shed - materials were donated for fixing the leaky roof. A temporary patch has been made. The shed will be re-roofed on Sat. Sep. 9th at 9AM. Any willing volunteers are welcome to help get this job done.

Roby thanked the many parents who helped out during the past three weeks of Band Camp including Debra Bradshaw, Linda Loving, Cindy LaFrata and her two daughters, Dan and Paris Watkins, Carol Gruber, Monica Merchant, Susan Jonte, Don Taylor (parent of a graduated senior), Mike Scott, Rebecca Youncey, Karen Wood, and Robert Driggers and Bob Loving for their work on the equipment.

Roster - a complete roster is being developed.

Mr Auman will thank the Band Camp instructors at tonight's performance.

Roby three things that make the band successful - the students, both Band and Color Guard, Mr Auman and his staff, and parental support. He encouraged participation and attendance at Booster meetings.

Website - extra effort has been made to update the site. Will likely rely on this and eventually dispense with the newsletter. There will be further discussion of this at the next meetng.

Membership Chair needed. Past chair, Patty Dean, unable to continue. Pleas see Roby if you are interestd.

After School practices begin Tues Sep 5th. They are from 4-6PM.

Budget Review

The budget was distributed to the general membership. Roby made the following points:
Car washes raised over $2,000
Chick Fil-A raised $700 this summer. Band night is Fridays through Nov.
Money raised goes towards instruments, competitions, travel fees, leadership training, etc.
Roby thanked Dan Watkins, Chair of Ways and Means for his work in successfully expanding the GBB fundraising efforts.

Each fund raisers separated out onto its own line.
Susan Taylor developed a fund for financial assistance.

Roby opened the floor for questions about the budget. There were none. A motion was made to accept the budget, a second was made. The budget passed by the General Membership

General Discussion

Roby opened the floor to general questions. There were none.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Sallie Bartholomew
Secretary
