Winterguard (2007-2008)
Mills E. Godwin's Winterguard is an indoor colorguard unit
who competes with the Atlantic Indoor Association. The season
starts around the end of November, with competitions beginning
in February, and ends in early April. Members participate in
tryouts and practice frequently to prepare for performances.
Each year the Winterguard has a theme. The instructor, Mr. Carey
Mitchell, teaches the team the routine (which must include music,
choreography, and theater) for the flags, rifles, sabres, and
other props. The guard members' parents play a huge role in
helping to prepare the props used in the show. The competition
schedule and more information about the Atlantic Indoor Association
can be found at www.atlanticindoor.org.
